Tips for Best Results
- Use a redirect URL when possible. Linking to a landing page lets you update the offer without reprinting the QR code. If the promotion changes, just update the page destination.
- Add "Scan for Discount" framing. QR codes with a clear call-to-action text frame get significantly more scans. Use the Frame option in Step 3 of the generator.
- Keep the coupon code short and memorable. Codes like SAVE20 or WELCOME10 are easy to type manually if the QR fails to scan — always give customers a fallback.
- Set a clear expiry date. Coupons without an end date reduce urgency. Adding an expiry (even a generous one) nudges people to act sooner.
- Download as SVG for print. Vector format means the QR code is crisp at any size — from a receipt to a billboard. Never use a small PNG for large-format print.
- Test before distributing. Scan the QR with at least two different phones before printing. Ensure the coupon code appears correctly or the landing page loads as expected.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does QRSansar store my coupon codes?
No. All QR code generation happens entirely in your browser. Your coupon code, offer description, and any URL you enter never leave your device and are never sent to our servers. Your promotional data stays completely private.
Can I update the coupon offer after printing?
If you linked the QR to a URL (rather than encoding the coupon code as plain text), you can update the destination page at any time without reprinting the QR code. The printed QR always points to the same URL — what changes is what visitors see when they arrive. This is the recommended approach for recurring promotions.
What's the difference between text-encoded and URL coupons?
A text-encoded coupon displays the discount code directly when scanned — the customer sees "COUPON: SAVE20 / 20% off your next order" on their screen and types the code at checkout. A URL coupon takes them straight to a webpage (your store, a Shopify discount link, etc.) where the code may be auto-applied. URL coupons offer a smoother customer journey.
Can I add my brand logo to the coupon QR code?
Yes. Open the "Customize Design" step and upload any PNG or SVG logo. The generator automatically increases error correction to ensure the code stays fully scannable even with a logo in the centre. Use High (H) error correction for logos larger than 20% of the QR area.
How do I track how many people scanned my coupon QR?
If you link the QR to a URL, add UTM parameters to the URL (e.g., ?utm_source=qr&utm_campaign=summer-sale) before generating the code. Google Analytics or any analytics tool will then show you exactly how many sessions came from QR scans. Alternatively, use a URL shortener that provides click tracking before pasting the link into the generator.
