Smart Location QR Code Generator
Generate a single QR code that opens Apple Maps natively on iPhone and redirects to Google Maps on Android and desktop. Enter any coordinates and a location name — or tap to use your current position.

One-click color themes. You can further customise after picking a preset.
Keep strong contrast between foreground and background for reliable scanning.
Place a logo at the center of the QR code. Error correction is automatically set to High when a logo is added.
Wrap the QR code in a frame with optional text to encourage scanning.
Text displayed on the frame (e.g. "Scan Me", "Get Discount", "View Menu").

Higher = more resilient. Use H with logos.
How It Works
Enter a Location Name and Coordinates
Type a descriptive name for the location — such as "Head Office" or "Event Venue" — then enter the latitude and longitude. You can find coordinates from any map service by right-clicking a pin. Alternatively, tap "Get My Current Location" to fill in the fields automatically using your device's GPS.
QR Code Generates Instantly
As soon as the required fields are filled, a QR code appears in real time. The code encodes a universal Apple Maps URL in the format maps.apple.com/?ll=…&q=…. No server calls are made — everything happens in your browser.
Scan and Navigate
On iPhone, the URL is a Universal Link that bypasses Safari and opens Apple Maps directly. On Android and PC, the link opens in the browser, which detects the map URL and prompts the user to open Google Maps. One QR code, two native experiences.
Why Apple Maps URL?
Native iOS Experience
Apple processes maps.apple.com URLs as Universal Links, intercepting them before Safari loads. The result: tapping the QR code on an iPhone launches Apple Maps directly with the pin placed and label shown — zero browser steps.
Android & Google Maps Redirect
Android browsers recognize the Apple Maps URL pattern and either redirect automatically to Google Maps or display an "Open in Maps" prompt. Most modern Android devices handle this transparently, giving users a seamless navigation experience.
Desktop Fallback
On desktop browsers, the URL opens the Apple Maps web interface, which shows the pinned location on a standard map. Users on Windows or Linux can click the "Get Directions" link to open Google Maps from there.
Static, No Dependencies
The QR code encodes a plain HTTPS URL — no app, no short-link service, no dynamic redirect infrastructure required. It works forever as long as Apple's domain resolves, making it safe to print on permanent signage.
Popular Use Cases
Event Venues
Print a location QR code on invitations, tickets, and signage so attendees can tap and navigate directly to the venue. Add the location name for context — guests see a labelled pin instead of bare coordinates.
Restaurant & Retail Fronts
Place a location QR on your window, menu, or business card. Customers who need directions just scan and go — no typing the address or searching by name. Works even if your business listing isn't indexed yet.
Real Estate & Property Tours
Affix a location QR to yard signs or flyers. Interested buyers scan and immediately get turn-by-turn directions to the property without needing to remember or type the address.
Tourism & Attractions
Museums, parks, and tour operators can encode precise GPS coordinates for exhibits, trailheads, or meeting points that may not have a standard street address. The location name label helps visitors identify the spot.
Construction & Job Sites
Remote job sites often lack recognized addresses. Generate a QR from GPS coordinates and attach it to documents or safety boards so workers and delivery drivers can navigate accurately.
Business Cards & Brochures
Replace static address text with a scannable location QR. Recipients tap to open maps instead of copying text into a search bar — a smoother experience that reduces navigation errors.
How to Find Coordinates
Google Maps (Desktop)
Navigate to the location in Google Maps. Right-click on the exact point and select "What's here?" from the context menu. The coordinates appear at the bottom of the screen in latitude, longitude order — click them to copy.
Google Maps (Mobile)
Tap and hold on the map at the desired location. A red pin drops and coordinates appear in the search bar at the top. Tap the coordinates to open the full details card where you can copy them.
Use the "Get My Current Location" Button
If you are already at the location you want to encode, tap "Get My Current Location" in the generator above. Your browser will ask for permission to access GPS. Once granted, the latitude and longitude fields fill automatically to six decimal places — accurate to about 10 cm.
Tips for Best Results
- Use at least 4–6 decimal places of precision in your coordinates. Six decimal places (e.g. 27.700769) is accurate to about 10 cm — ideal for directing people to a specific entrance or pin.
- Keep the location name short and descriptive. It appears as the map pin label when the link is opened — something like "Main Entrance" or "Parking Gate B" is more useful than a full address string.
- Test the QR code on both an iPhone and an Android device before printing. Confirm that Apple Maps opens natively on iOS and that Google Maps launches correctly on Android.
- For permanent installations like wall signs or plaques, download the QR as an SVG or high-resolution PNG (400 px or above) to ensure crisp printing at any size.
- Add a frame with a call-to-action such as "Scan for Directions" so people understand the QR's purpose at a glance — especially important for first-time visitors unfamiliar with location QR codes.
- Avoid URLs with dynamic redirect layers between the QR and the map. This generator produces a direct
maps.apple.comlink, which is the most reliable format for map apps to intercept natively.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this work without installing any app?
Yes. On iPhone, Apple Maps is a built-in system app and opens automatically via the Universal Link. On Android, Google Maps is pre-installed on most devices and is launched by the browser's map redirect. No third-party app download is needed by the person scanning.
What happens if the user doesn't have Google Maps on Android?
The browser opens the Apple Maps web page, which displays the location on a standard web map. Users can still view the pin and get an approximate address. In practice, Google Maps is pre-installed on virtually all Android devices sold through standard channels.
Is the QR code static or dynamic?
Static. The encoded URL is fixed at generation time and baked directly into the QR pattern. There is no redirect server or analytics layer — the code always points to the exact coordinates you entered. This makes it permanent and printable without any ongoing subscription.
Can I encode an address instead of coordinates?
This generator uses GPS coordinates for precision. For a plain address, use our URL QR type and enter a Google Maps search link. Coordinates are preferred for location QR codes because they work even for places without a recognized street address and remove any ambiguity from address parsing.
Is my location data sent to QRSansar servers?
No. All processing happens entirely in your browser. Coordinates you enter — or that are detected from GPS — are never transmitted to any server. You can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and the generator continues to work fully offline.
