How It Works
Enter Your Venmo Username
Type your Venmo handle — the part after venmo.com/ in your profile URL. You can find this in the Venmo app under Settings > Profile. Usernames can contain letters, numbers, hyphens, and underscores.
Optionally Set Amount and Note
Enter a fixed USD amount for invoices or product sales. Add a note to describe the payment (e.g., "Coffee" or "March rent"). Leave both blank for a general-purpose payment QR.

What the QR Code Encodes
Venmo URL Format
The QR encodes a standard HTTPS URL: https://venmo.com/YourUsername for a general payment link, or https://venmo.com/YourUsername?txn=pay&amount=10¬e=Coffee with amount and note parameters. This URL works when clicked or scanned.
Mobile Behaviour
On a phone with the Venmo app installed, scanning the QR opens the app directly to a payment screen with your username, amount, and note pre-filled. Without the app, it opens the Venmo website where the user can log in or download the app.
Payment Direction
The txn=pay parameter tells Venmo this is a payment (not a charge request). The person scanning will see a "Pay" screen — they confirm and the money goes to you. They can still adjust the amount if you left it open.

Does the payer need a Venmo account?
Yes, Venmo requires both sender and receiver to have Venmo accounts. If the person scanning doesn't have the app, the QR link will direct them to download it. Unlike PayPal, there's no guest checkout option for Venmo.
Is Venmo available outside the United States?
Venmo is currently only available in the United States. Both the sender and receiver must have US bank accounts or debit cards. For international payments, consider using our PayPal QR generator instead.
Are there fees for receiving payments?
Personal payments between friends are free. Business payments (goods and services) incur a 1.9% + $0.10 fee per transaction. If you're selling products or services, make sure to set up a Venmo Business Profile to stay compliant with their terms.
What's the transaction limit?
Venmo's weekly rolling limit for person-to-person payments is $4,999.99 for identity-verified users. Unverified accounts have a $299.99 weekly limit. Business profiles have higher limits. Check your Venmo app for your current limits.
Does this tool store my Venmo details?
